Gianmarco Cariola is a research economist at the Bank of Italy. Before joining the Bank of Italy in 2022, he worked at the economic research and development divisions of the World Trade Organization. He obtained his MSc in economics at the Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies and his PhD in international economics at the Geneva Graduate Institute. His research interests include international trade, firm dynamics and applied econometrics.
